Co-Occurring Disorders

Many people suffering from substance use disorders commonly have additional mental health issues. The coexistence of both a mental illness and a substance use disorder is known as a co-occurring disorder. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, it is estimated that nearly 40% of people with substance use disorder also have a co-occurring mental health disorder. These issues can include substance use disorders that occur simultaneously with:

· Depression

· Bi-polar disorder

· Generalized anxiety disorder

· Panic disorders

· Personality disorders

· Post-traumatic stress disorder

Due to the complex and interrelated nature of co-occurring disorders, treatment models targeting only one diagnosis at a time are ineffective. Co-occurring Disorders are frequently interrelated and must be treated as such. Extensive research supports the importance of evaluating and treating co-occurring disorders together. Synergy Sobriety Solutions coordinates individualized care with psychiatrists to thoroughly identify and evaluate any co-occurring mental health issues, assuring that each client receives comprehensive care. Our integrated treatment approach, utilizing evidence-based interventions, significantly improves client outcomes and quality of life for people with co-occurring disorders.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Cravings and poor coping skills can be major triggers to relapse during early recovery. Cravings and urges can also be distracting and negatively impact the motivation a client could direct into their recovery. Managing cravings and urges with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), considered a “gold standard of care”, can help clients be more engaged and have more confidence when focusing on their recovery efforts. MAT is the use of medications, in combination with counseling, to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Clients receiving MAT report reduced cravings and greater engagement in treatment. Not surprisingly, research supports a strong correlation between MAT and positive long-term treatment outcomes.

As part of our comprehensive addiction treatment services, we offer medication-assisted treatment with Suboxone and Vivitrol, under the oversight of experienced medical professionals. All of our MAT clients receive an appropriate level of care evaluation, counseling, and wellness education.

Vivitrol and Suboxone both contain opioid antagonists, drugs that bind to opioid receptors in your brain and block them from allowing opioids, such as heroin to bind to these receptors.

  • Vivitrol contains the drug naltrexone alone and is administered monthly through an injection.

  • Suboxone is a combination of naloxone and buprenorphine, and the medicine is taken orally daily.

Recovery Residences

While in treatment, some require a safe residence to focus on recovery without distraction. Our team developed relationships and built an exclusive network of trusted, local partners that provide high-quality accommodations at private recovery residences. The goal is to provide recovering persons with a safe and clean environment that requires minimal time and stress to maintain occupancy. In concentrating on maintaining recovery, sober living residences can function as an intermediate in assisting in developing daily responsibilities before returning to an everyday daily living routine. Exquisite residences provide amenities that include an on-site house manager, communal areas, home kitchens, and secure neighborhoods.
